The 2N 9161161 Access Unit M is a compact mullion-style access control reader combining a capacitive touch keypad, multi-frequency RFID and NFC-ready mobile access. Designed for electronically secured doors, it allows users to gain entry using a PIN code, RFID card or key fob, or a compatible NFC-enabled smartphone.

Supporting both 125kHz and 13.56MHz RFID technologies, the unit can accommodate a wide range of existing access cards while providing a pathway to more secure credential technologies. NFC support also allows users to access compatible doors using their mobile device instead of carrying a physical card.

Its narrow mullion-style design makes the reader particularly suitable for installation on door frames and other locations where mounting space is limited. Administration can be performed remotely through the secure web interface or centrally using 2N Access Commander.

The 2N 9161161 Access Unit M also features a highly sensitive capacitive touch keypad, allowing offices, apartments and other secured areas to use PIN-based access. Combined with RFID and NFC credentials, this provides organisations with flexible authentication options for staff, residents and authorised visitors.

Controller and Reader in One

The 2N 9161161 Access Unit M combines the reader and access controller within one compact device, reducing cabling requirements and simplifying installation. It can operate without continuous communication with a central server, making it suitable for both standalone and centrally managed access control installations.

Hassle-Free Installation

A nearly 3-metre Ethernet pigtail simplifies connection to the IP network. The cable can be routed through the door frame and into the ceiling before connecting to the network infrastructure. Optional installation boxes are also available where wall mounting is required.

Designed for Demanding Environments

Despite its compact dimensions, the Access Unit M features an IP55 protection rating, allowing installation in suitable outdoor environments. Its durable glass front panel is designed to withstand the demands of regular daily use.

Support for Secure RFID Credentials

For installations requiring enhanced credential security, the reader supports MIFARE DESFire cards protected using 2N PICard technology, helping organisations move away from easily copied legacy RFID credentials.
